Pickled Herring

2 herring
2-4 carrots
3 medium onions
1 small glass vinegar
1 large glass water
3-4 tablespoons oil
Greek olives
1-2 slices lemon
3 tablespoons sugar
bay leaves.
Warm the vinegar, add 2-3 bay leaves, add water to the jar, wash the herring, add all ingredients to the jar. Note: sodium benzoate, a preservative will stop the fermentation, if added.
