"GET MESUDAR": SEARCH NEW NAMES This data base contains a full set of the Primary and Subsidiary ("NEW", mainly German, Hungarian, and Polish) names authorized by the rabbis to be written in a Get, and the other names NOT to be written in a Get (e.g., diminutives, names of endearment, original secular names), which appear in the Hilchot Gitin book "Get Mesudar", written by Rabbi Elazar Mintz at the beginning of the 20th century. You can search for names in any of these three categories. For the most part, the names in this data base apply to Germany, Hungary, or Poland, with occasional application to other regions where Ashkenazi Jews lived and also adopted these secular names. The Subsidiary-Yiddishized New names (authorized by Rabbi Mintz to be written in a Get), and the original-secular New names (not to be written in a Get) are presented in all-capital letters, while similar or related names are presented in initial-capital + lower-case letters.
