Further your research through JewishGen webinars

JewishGen offers many learning opportunities from formal classes to hour-long seminars on a variety of topics. The JewishGen Education page contains a schedule of regularly offered courses. Short lectures on a wealth of topics are presented on the JewishGen YouTube Channel.

Connect with some of the numerous Jewish Genealogy Facebook Groups

Facebook groups are great because you get the power of crowd-sourcing for pressing questions. There’s numerous groups focused on different aspects and regions of Jewish genealogy.

JewishGen’s Jewish Genealogy Portal is a place to ask questions and receive crowd-sourced answers to your genealogical questions. With about 70,000 members from around the globe, many people offer translations for inscriptions in various languages on the back of photos, invaluable information for Jewish genealogists.

Tracing the Tribe is a very popular and active group moderated by many well-known Jewish genealogists. You can receive rapid responses to your questions and help with breaking through your genealogical brick walls.

The Weekly News Nosh...News About Jewish Genealogy, Jewish History and Jewish Culture is no longer distributed by JewishGen or put in the JewishGen Discussion Group. It is now exclusively on both Tracing The Tribe (with 78,100 members) and The Jewish Genealogy Portal (77,300 members) on Facebook. The Weekly News Nosh, previously distributed by JewishGen, is posted every Sunday on both sites. However, to view it at ANY TIME and to BYPASS all of the other posts on either site, you can simply go to the search icon (which looks like a magnifying glass) and is next to “Joined” and type in what you are looking for. For example, if you type in News Nosh, it will take you to the five Weekly News Noshes that have been published on the site so far.

Explore Maps to understand how borders changed over time

Due to changing geopolitical conditions, borders in Eastern Europe shifted continuously over time. The Ukraine RD Map Gallery has several maps spanning different time periods in Ukraine's history. These maps will help you understand both the changing national borders as well as the changes to administrative districts. Understanding the administrative boundaries and national borders can provide insights into where genealogical records for your town of interest may exist.

Expand your research through Genetic Genealogy

Genetic Genealogy is the use of DNA testing in combination with traditional genealogical methods. Genetic genealogy involves the use of genealogical DNA testing together with documentary evidence to infer the relationship between individuals. There are numerous books, courses, and Facebook groups devoted to this topic.
