However, the congregation has its own general charitable trust for the benefit of its members - The Belmont Charitable Trust, a registered charity (no. 293834). The governing document is a Deed of Settlement dated 30 January 1986.(xvii)

  • (i) This was the name under which the congregationwas listed in Jewish Year Book through 1980 and the change of name coincides with the change in United Synagogue status. See "Affiliation"below.

  • (ii) The Vernon Drive address appears in all Jewish Year Books from 1983. Previously no address was given for the congregation.

  • (iii) 1966 is the year the congregation became affiliated to the United Synagogue (The United Synagogue 1870-1970 by Aubrey Newman (1977), page 222), and there is no information as to the congegation being established prior to that date.

  • (iv) Based upon congregation's first listing as a Constituent Synagogue in the Jewish Year Book 1981.
