previously, 453 Cheetham Hill Road, Manchester M8 9PA (foundation stone laid January 1958)

(The congregation is considered part of the "North Manchester" Jewish community.)

Formed in 1958 on the merger of the following congregations:

Ashkenazi Orthodox

Affiliation:

A provincial synagogue under the aegis of the Chief Rabbi.

Local Authority:

The congregation is in the City of Salford, but was previously (Cheetham Hill) in the City of Manchester (as were predecessor congregation in Hightown).

The Cities of both Salford and Manchester are metropolitan boroughs, created in 1974, within the metropolitan county of Greater Manchester (which no longer has any administrative powers). From 1889 to 1974, Salford and Manchester were county boroughs (unitary authorities), geographically (though not administratively) within the County of Lancashire.
