EXTRACT
In a report of an appeal for funds by the
Fountains Road congregation,
Kirkdale, for its synagogue, it stated that the building is "intended to supply a very urgent
need which has existed for some time to the 80 or 90 Jewish Families now residing in the north end, viz. Bootle, Kirkdale, and Walton".

Mr. M. Goodman presided at the recent annual meeting of the Bootle Hebrew Congregation. In presenting the annual report he spoke of the progress achieved, spiritually and financially, during the year.
The accounts, presented by the Treasurer, Mr. B. Heller, were adopted.
Thanks for their services were accorded to Messrs. M. Goodman, B. Heller, A. Berg, P. Sunderland, L. Berg and S. Silverman.

BOOTLE
The Annual Meeting of the Hebrew Congregation was held in the Vestry Room, at
358, Stanley Road, Bootle, with Mr. M. Goodman in
the Chair.
Mr. B. Heller presented the Report and Balance sheet, which were adopted. Thanks were accorded to the retiring officers.

The Bootle Community have sustained a severe loss by the death of Mr. Benjamin Heller, who as Treasurer of the Congregation and representative
to the Board of Deputies, and in other capacities, had always been a great asset to the Congregation and a splendid worker for charity.

The docks and industry made Bootle the target for heavy bombing during the war. Almost 90% of the housing stock was damaged. When the community was able to re-establish itself immediately after the war,
it did so about four miles further to the north at
Crosby and Waterloo.
