Posterngate, off Hull Market Place, Hull.(ii)

The synagogue had been a Roman Catholic chapel sacked by the mob in June 1780 in the anti-Catholic Gordon riots, lead by Lord George Gordon (who subsequently converted to Judaism). It was acquired later that year by five Jewish families, restored and converted into a synagogue.(iii)

In 1809, following disagreemens with officials of the congregation, a group of members broke away to form the Parade Row Synagogue.

The building was probably demolished in 1994.(v)
