JCR-UK is a genealogical and historical website covering all Jewish communities and County of Carmarthenshire Carmarthenshire (in Welsh: Sir Gaerfyrddin), in south-west Wales, was formed as a unitary authority in 1996 from three former districts of the county of Dyfed - Llanelli, Carmarthen and Dinefwr. However, prior to 1974, the territory covered by these three districts had formed the historic county of Carmarthenshire. Jewish Communities in Carmarthenshire From the 1870's, new Jewish communities sprung up in the small towns across south Wales, a number of which are now located in the county of Carmarthenshire, in particular Llanelli. There are now very few Jews left in the region.
