Deportation Records
As the first step of the project for the records from the JewishGen existing Database “Moldovan victims of Soviet Oppression 1941-1951” all proper names (First names, Surnames, Names of population centers, etc.) were transliterated from Romanian into English. This step will enable access to all of Database records via the JewishGen search engine.
For the second step sources from National Archive of Republic Moldova containing lists of Families deported from Moldavia by each Special train (echelon) were utilized to update existing records with Father’s names, addresses, train’s numbers and destinations. Also new records missing in the original database were added.
First two steps of the project have been completed. For the step 3 another source from National Archive of Republic Moldova “Set of documents related to persons deported from Moldavian Soviet Socialist Republic in 1930-1951” is utilized to update records from the JewishGen existing Database “Moldovan victims of Soviet Oppression 1941-1951”. Existing records are updated with Father’s name, Birth place, and years of exile. Also new records missing in the original database were added. This step is about 50% completed.
