The Belarus SIG Mosty Project initiated by Jim Yarin solved the mystery of this headstone. The father of Meite Hurwitz was known to be Rabbi Isaac Hurwitz. Why was the name on the headstone incorrect?
Headstone reads: Meite b r Joshia Heschel died Salem Massachusetts.
In the Revision lists for Mosty in 1858 Documented in the Belarus SIG records Meite is shown with father Aizik and grandfather Abraham Geshel.
