See town name in line 138, brother Welvel Bachrach is from a town that I cannot identify. Batschinec? Leib (brother of Welvel) and Perel lived in Pryluky and also possibly was born in Mogilev. I have searched different databases but cannot figure it out. Both documents have similar spelling. I am thinking my great grandparents spoke Yiddish and the German official who wrote this understood them. Help appreciated. Thanks very much.

4/29/2024 6:22 PM As with the American passenger list, looks like it might be the town of Bileshchyna - spelled on this manifest as possibly Balschinow. On modern Google maps, looks like it is about 2-3 kilometers north of Priluki.

4/30/2024 6:51 PM you are right, as spelled, it looks to be Batschinec in the other document and Batschinow in this one

I am not familiar with such a place and spelling it as above or in a corresponding Polish way does not yield a valid search result

maybe the spelling does not exactly reproduce the sound of the name
