Search the Archive

Browse the VM archive to view user-generated images of Jewish historical subjects, documents, culture and places, up close. A new response feature now allows you to add your response to those older, often unanswered archived images. Please respond with relevant information when you can. Here's how. Sort the first column (VM ID) by clicking on the column title for the oldest or the latest images. Select an image. Next click "Add Response".

Alternatively, narrow your search by clicking "Search Archive," above, and type specific search terms.

Your input deserves our thanks and praise, for it may help a Gen'er in new and rewarding ways.
Countless unnamed and dedicated volunteers from across the globe deserve our gratitude. They freely offer their time and skills responding to ViewMate requests. Giving to others will come back to them.

Note: Viewmate's first saved image is #227.

To sort by a column, click the column title. Then click the sort icon [D] to reverse the order.
You will be able to view responses online if available. Items will open in a new browser window.

106815 Translation - Tombstone

4/24/2024 12:25 PM This is the base of the Samilson family headstone in Union Field cemetery in Queens, NY. My great great grandparents, Harris Asher and Rebecca (Simon) Samilson are buried here. Harris' surname was Angenitsky and he changed it before he left his birthplace of Simnas, Lithuania. His father's name may have been Solomon or Samuel. If it's not totally readable I have another view of part of it. View the post with its 1 response
