In Yiddish, Shumsk A village, 8 km northwest of the district city of Marijampole. In 1923, 9 Jews lived among the 300 residents in the village. According to the 1931 Lithuanian government census, Jews owned in Sunskai a factory that produced bricks. In June, 1941, when Germany conquered Lithuania, the fate of the Jews of Sunskai was the same as the fate of the Jews in the surrounding areas.
