Translated by Shimon Joffe A county town in the Siauliai district, 14 km. east of Akmene. Before the First World War, Kruopiai had a small Jewish community. In 1923, it had some 200 inhabitants, among them 3 Jews. According to the survey conducted by the Lithuanian government in 1931, the town had a Jewish owned timber mill and a flour mill. With the conquest of Lithuania by the Germans in June 1941, the Kruopiai Jews shared the fate of the other Jews in the neighborhood.
