Afterword by the Author's Daughter, Rhoda Kuflik

The photographs in this book were taken in Poland and were saved by me in a miraculous way. The night that we decided to make our escape from Kuty was after a major pogrom that had taken place in our town. Our house had been ransacked by the Nazis in search of us. I was about 4 years old and realized that we were leaving home. I looked for something that I wanted to have. There were photographs thrown about in a closet, and I took as many as I could and put them in a jacket that was nearby. My parents did not take anything with them when we left our home except for the clothing they were wearing. My father put a jacket on, took me on his shoulders, and we started on our journey. The jacket that he chose to wear had my photographs in the pockets.

I also wrote a book. It is called, “I Remember”. It is the story of our miraculous journey and escape during the Holocaust. There are many more pictures in my book. It is available on Amazon and in the libraries of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum and Yad Vashem.
