Our Shtetl Dusiat (cont.)

We walked along the Ozere. Mary told us the story of her family who moved from the shtetl to the city of Dvinsk (Daugavpils, Latvia) at the beginning of the 20^th century. “Why?” we asked. “Because there was no doctor in the shtetl,” she answered.

There in the distance was “di Shtchure” [thicket]…

Then we entered Poritz's house, and then I entered my old home again …

I placed a flower on the doorstep as if taking leave of the grave of my loved ones …

And left forever …
