In Caracas, he contributed to the Keren Kayemet.

Remembering our friends Leizer and Machlia Shulman, Hy”d, from your daughter

In memory of

Yisrael Zigelbaum, z”l

Our unforgotten husband and father Yisrael Zigelbaum was born on December 31, 1904 in Cornesti, where his parents Abraham and Adel, z”l, lived. We married in 1933 and in 1937 the family moved to Yedinitz. Yisrael Zigelbaum was blessed with integrity. He followed the Jewish traditions and was liked by all. He was also a dedicated Zionist. In his town, he was a member of “Gordonia.”

The family survived some terrible times during their deportation to the camps of Transnistria, in Mogilev. Even in the camps he tried to help as much as he could and to protect women from grief and humiliation.

With luck, he was able to survive. In 1948 the family emigrated to Caracas, where the family was rebuilt. There he had two children. The son, Yitzchak, received a degree in medicine and is a well-known gynecologist; the daughter, Mally, is also an academic, a psychologist.

Still, in Yedinitz he excelled as a peacemaker; mediated between people and even between man and wife. He was very social and known for his good humor and clever answers. He enjoyed reading the works of Shalom Aleichem.

A memorial candle for the Livishchuk family, Yedinitz

The head of our family, my father Yitzchak Livishchuk, z”l, was a prominent socialite and active Zionist in Yedinitz. He owned a large factory near Lipa Felberg and had his own seat in the Husiatyn synagogue.

My mother Rachel, z”l, is from the well-known Filderwasser family, from Nova Ushytsia.
My father Yitzchak passed away in Iasi in 1932, leaving his young wife and five children.
The mother, her daughters, and three sons met their Maker with great misfortune:

· The second daughter Perl and her husband Daniel Monimus (from Briceva)
· The son Shmuel, a dedicated member of “Gordonia” was murdered in Yedinitz
· The son Berl (Borya) was also murdered in Yedinitz. He was buried with his brother.
· The son Simcha disappeared somewhere in Russia (and who knows, perhaps he is among the living!)

Shmuel and Simcha were active in Beitar in Yedinitz. They helped their friend Zvi-Hirsch Winner when he came back from the Romanian Army to go to Israel.

Simcha went to Călăraşi for training to go to Israel but was not fortunate to make it there.

Borya became an upstanding citizen. He helped the needy and was known for his technical skills.
