Chaim-Yitzchak-Itzke Aires | Avraham Aires and Chana (Chatzkel) | Kehat-David Aires (?) |
Arthur Aires: My grandmother Chana came to S.A. with her two boys Chaim-Yitzchak and Kehat-David (my father) just after Pesach 1925. My grandfather Avraham had come a bit earlier to try and make a beginning, first to Oudtshoorn, then to Kirkwood. My grandfather's new friend in Kirkwood was a Mr. Norman Thal, who had helped him bring his family out of Lithuania.
Mr. Norman and his wife, Sheine-Jenny, had come to Kirkwood from New York (born in Courland) and eventually became the mechutonim [in-laws] of my grandparents twice over: The two Aires brothers, Chaim-Yitzchak and Kehat-David, married two of the Thal's four daughters!
