| A group of people, almost all of whom, excepting the first one standing in the first row, Mr. Joseph Shmukler, and the first reclining on the right, Mr. Chaim Starkman, may they both be granted good lives, are no longer alive. Most of them were killed in the Holocaust era.

The family of Shlomo and Rivka Rabfogel and their son, who were privileged, after physical and emotional tribulations and suffering, to settle in the Holy Land.
May the Good Lord look over them, and may they be privileged to enjoy plenty, nachas from their children, together with all of the residents of The Land, in peace and tranquility.

R' Joseph ז”ל was a man of pleasant demeanor, God-fearing, a gifted leader of prayer, who educated his children in Torah and the [Jewish] tradition.

R' Zvi Rabfogel and his wife Tova, may they rest in peace, were killed in the Holocaust in the city of Cracow, together with their daughters, Chana-Riva, and those who appear in these pictures.
This aristocratic family was one of the most respected families in the city, known for its good deeds, in the giving of charity and good works.
May Their Souls be Bound Up in the Bond of Life Under the Wings of the Holy Spirit.

A Memorial Candle for Our Mothers
One of the most sensitive responsibilities assumed by the ‘Organization of the Emigrants of Cieszanow in Israel,’ is to eternalize the memory of their sacred community that gave its life in the Sanctification of the Name.
In the ranks of this sacred duty, we have provided a series of articles which record and provide a permanent memory of a number of the prominent people ‘personalities,’ Rabbis, scholars, community activists, and the like, but the dearest of all the dear are our ‘mothers,’ whom we have forgotten, but the feeling of honor and respect makes it incumbent upon us to recall our ‘grandmothers’ who earned a good name for themselves through their warm hearts, with their tireless activity on behalf of the common good, for the benefit of the large number of the poor, and sick, who could be found in our town.
Among the countless groups that dispensed charity, which had an impact in Cieszanow, it was the women who occupied the important positions with their activity. Their home was always open to the needy, and their objective especially was to give ‘charity in anonymity.’
May my few lines [here] serve as a memorial candle for their holy souls. Their names will remain in the history of our town of Cieszanow as a symbol of charity, justice and gentleness, compassion and a good heart.
