I believe this is a Polish birth certificate for my great-great grandfather born in Opoczno (the first entry - No 52).
What I'm expecting to see is that his name is Mendel Mortkowicz, and was born on 28 Jul 1896, but I understand this may not necessarily be the case.
If someone could translate entry No 52 (the first one), that would be greatly appreciated!

This is a sharper, enlarged crop of the right-hand witness signature from an illuminated ketubah written in Safed, 13 Adar 5642 = 1882 (National Library of Israel record 990003034930205171, original Zucker Family collection, New York). The full lower band with both signatures was posted earlier as ViewMate 115081; a respondent there could read words in the left-hand signature, so this right-hand one is the one I most need help with now. It is a dense Sephardi monogram flourish and I cannot read it myself. I would be very grateful if someone could simply transcribe what the signature says, letter by letter as far as possible, without assuming a particular name.

Signature block from a Jewish marriage record, Ciepielow (Radom gubernia), 1844, act 5. Source: AP Kielce, Ciepielow Jewish civil registers, via GenBaza.
Four men signed in Hebrew. The Polish text names them, in this order: Jewel Rappoport (deputy rabbi); Lejbus Honigsberg (the groom's father, of Konskowola, Lublin gubernia); Judka Kuperman (the bride's father); Josek Echt (witness).
I would be grateful for a reading of all four lines, but especially the SECOND line - Lejbus Honigsberg, my direct ancestor. It appears to have three elements and I cannot make out the middle one.
Two questions in particular:
1. Does the middle word read ha-Levi, ha-Kohen, or something else (e.g. an abbreviation such as b"r)?
2. If a patronymic appears, what is his father's name? The 1847 civil death record does not name his father, so this signature may be the only surviving evidence of that generation.
Any reading, even partial or uncertain, would be a great help. Thank you. |

I believe Akta 44 is my great-great-great-grandmother’s sister’s 1819 birth record from Zaręby Kościelne, Płock, Poland. I would like it translated in full (or at least everything that isn’t the standard wording of a birth record).
Names that I would expect to see in the text are:
- the child’s name: Tema Chaja;
- her father: Abraham, son of Herszko (the family later
adopted the surname WAJNTROB);
- her mother: Mirka, daughter of Idzko and Zelda.

I would like to know the approximate date this photo would have been taken. I believe it is a school photo and one of the children may have been my great-uncle. There is some text on the top of this photo which I believe is the name 'Yosel'. I am posting a second photo with the text on the back of this photo. I believe the text is in yiddish but am not sure. |
