The Jewish Genealogical Society (JGS) of New Orleans is a non-profit organization consisting of members who desire to research their Jewish roots in Louisiana and worldwide. Jews immigrated to the United States over a period of three to four centuries. Our purpose is to periodically present programs which will assist the membership to research their Jewish ancestry and to provide members with more knowledge about Jewish genealogy. The JGS does not research, but will assist by directing inquiries to appropriate available resources. Meetings are generally held on the first Sunday of the month at 2pm, alternating between the Metairie Jewish Community Center and the New Orleans Jewish Community Center (Uptown). |
