The Governor of Cardiff Prison and the Secretary of the Discharged Prisoners’ Aid Society
addressed the meeting to discuss ways and means of helping discharged prisoners.

PORTHCAWL (GLAM.) -
For the first time, services on the High Festivals were held at
"Coylton," Lock's Common, and were conducted by Mr. Adolph Gable,
ot Cardiff, who had officiated in a similar capacity at Bath for the past
sixteen years. Mr. M. Koskin, a former President of the Windsor PIace
Congregation, acted as Warden. A substantial sum was raised, by offerings, for the Federation of Polish Jews.

PORTHCAWL Services were held at the Spiritualist Church, Porthcawl (Glam.), on New Year and Day of Atonement.
It was the first time Jewish services have been held in the town.
Arrangements are now being made for the religious education of the children.

Mr. I. D. Rivlin and Mr. Louis Levey are President and Treasurer of the Congregation, respectively, and Mr. A. M. Bass is Hon. Secretary.

PORTHCAWL (Glam.) - The first Jewish wedding in Porthcawl was celebrated recently at the W.V.S. headquarters,
when Policewoman Esta Price, who is on the staff of the Glamorgan War Reserve Police, married Mr. Stanley Moss, of Glasgow.
The Chupah was provided by the Windsor Place Synagogue, Cardiff, and the officiating clergy were the Revs.
Maurice Unterman, A. Zucker and G. Grey. The Warden was Mr. I. D. Rivlin, who informed our Cardiff
correspondent that Sabbath services are held at the same W.V.S. hall on Friday nights and Saturday mornings.

PORTHCAWL - The Jewish families of the popular South Wales seaside resort, Porthcawl, have increased in recent years to about 25.
Under the leadership of Mr. Percy W. Landy. a number of Jewish activities have been organised.
During the Holydays, services were held at the local Baptist Hall. Donations to charitable and other causes included:
Home for Aged Jews, Penarth. 45 guineas; J.P.A. 40 guineas; Cardiff Jewish Board of Guardians. 15 guineas; and Jewish Orphanage, 5 guineas.

PORTHCAWL - An increase in membership was reported by Mr. Percy W. Landy,
President, at the recent annual meeting of the Porthcawl Hebrew Congregation.
Mr. David Gorb presented the financial statement. A tribute was paid to Mr. Dan
Fine, of Cardiff, who has been acting as minister to the congregation for a
number of years. Those elected were Mr. Percy W. Landy, President; Dr. Louis Saville,
Hon. Doctor to the congregation; and Mr. David Gorb (94, Victoria Avenue, Porthcawl), Treasurer and Hon. Secretary.

Porthcawl. Coffee morning raised £5 for Children and Youth Aliyah Attendance by women from Bridgend, Ogmore Vale,
and Porthcawl who ’in an attempt to maintain communal attachments, are organising regular fund-raising events
in each other’s houses and giving support to Mrs. Daphne Isaacs, of Bridgend, who conducts regular Sunday morning classes for the children of the area.

Attempts to provide religious education for the children of Bridgend, Porthcawl, and Ogmore Vale district,
which broke down some months ago, have now failed completely with the departure of the acting teacher,
'Some families are contemplating moving from the area, while others are seeking education for the children at Swansea or Cardiff.
More encouragement was received from Swansea than from Cardiff United Synagogue and this has
led to an interest in the possibility for Cardiff Reform Synagogue providing assistance'.
