The former Synagogue (now the Northern School of Contemporary Dance) has been a Grade II Listed Building since 22 November 1991 (number 1255639). (View description on Historic England website.)

The wall gates and piers to the northeast and west of the former synagogue are also a Grade II Listed Building (number 125564), designated on 22 November 1991. (View description on Historic England website.)

In addition the adjoining house at 98 Chapeltown Street, previously used as the communal offices of the United Hebrew Congregation, is also a Grade II Listed Building, listed on 22 November 1991 (number 1255632). See (View description on Historic England website.)

Founded:

1931 (synagogue opened 1932), in part as successor to the New Briggate Synagogue. Services held in adjoining Brandsby Lodge (which housed the offices of the United Hebrew Congregation, the Board of Shechitah and the Beth Din), until opening of synagogue.

Closed 1985
