Charitable Status:

The congregation is a registered charity (no. 1037099), under the name Ealing Liberal Jewish Congregation, registered on 28 April 1994. The governing document is the congregation's Constitution adopted 14 May 1989.(xv)

Local Government District:

The West London suburb of Ealing is a residential area in the London Borough of Ealing and was previously (from 1901 until 1965) in the somewhat smaller former Municipal Borough of Ealing.(xvi)

  • (i) Based upon the name listed in Jewish Year Books. The change from "Congregation" to "Synagogue" first appeared in the 1954 edtion and the word "Jewish" was omitted with effect from the 1955 edition.

  • (ii) Jewish Year Books from 1954 give the address as "Drayton Green". the addition of Lynton Avenue" first appears in the Jewish Year Book 1993, or possibly 1992.

  • (iii) The congregation is first listed in the Jewish Year Book 1945/6 (the first edition following war-time break in publication), being listed as ULPS congregation.

  • (iv) Based upon Mr Simon's listing as Honorary President & Minister in Jewish Year Books from 1950 through 1964 and was previously referred to as just Honorary President.
