Town of Dundalk The coastal town of Dundalk (Irish: Dún Dealgan meaning "Dalgan's fort") is the county town of the county of Louth in the Republic of Ireland, situated on the Castletown River just a few miles south of the border with Northern Ireland. It has a population of nearly 40,000.
Very little is currently known of the Jewish community in Dundalk There is a news report of a Jewish congregation being established towards the end of the nineteenth century,(i) but there are no reports as to what became of the congregation, although individual Jewish families are known to have been living in the town well into the middle of the twentieth century.
