Jewish Chronicle, 8 October 1897, page 28

There is a notice that states that for the seventh year a minyan was held at the residence of Mr. Maurice Marks. Mr. Marks and Mr. Michaels (of Manchester) read the prayers. Mr. H. Finestone of Worksop was Baal Tokeah.

Jewish Chronicle, 16 November 1906, page 21

It was reported that there were six Jewish families in Worksop but no Jewish minister - report by Rev AA Green on the educational needs of the Provinces.

The Worksop Hebrew Congregation advertised for a Hebrew teacher and shochet.
Note: There were letters in the Jewish Chronicle in August and September 1909 from a Mr. Maurice Josephs of Worksop describing himself as Shochet.

There is a reference to 'additional congregations' being formed in Ayr, Barry Dock, Llandudno, Oldham, Seacombe, and Worksop.

WORKSOP - A Minyan is held every Sabbath morning at 9.30 and Sabbath evening at 8, at 22, Watson Road, Worksop (by permission of Mr. S. Golberg).


Jewish Chronicle, 24 October 1941

WORKSOP - The holding of Yom Kippur services - the first in Worksop for many years - was made possible by the attendance of some Jewish soldiers who were in the district. The services were conducted by D. Serlin (formerly of Frankfort) and Messrs. S. Goorney, S. Golberg, and Basil Moore. Offerings, amounting to £7, are being devoted to the United Jewish Relief Appeal.
