Rickmansworth and Croxley Green
Rickmansworth (population about 23,000) is a town in Hertfordshire situated about five miles to the west of Watford and a few miles
to the northeast of the administrative boundary of Greater London. Croxley Green is a suburb of Rickmansworth.
Rickmansworth is now in the Three Rivers District, a local government district in the county of Hertfordshire, formed in 1974.
Until 1974, Rickmansworth was an Urban District.
Rickmansworth Jewish Community
An evacuee Jewish community was founded in
Rickmansworth during World War II, but
which did not survive long after the cessation of hostilities. However, although
there is currently no extant Jewish congregation in the Three Rivers District, it is, according to National
Censuses, among the thirty local authorities with the largest number of Jewish
residents (see details below).
