District of Epping Forest, Essex
Epping Forest is a local government district in the county of
Essex. It is situated immediately to the north of the London
Boroughs of Redbridge, Waltham Forest and Havering, and therefore just outside the
administrative boundary of Greater London. Epping Forest was formed in
1974, upon the merger of the urban districts of Chigwell, Epping, and Waltham
Holy Cross and most of the rural district of Epping and Ongar, all of which were
in Essex.
The Epping Forest Jewish Community
The Jewish community of Epping Forest is to be found primarily in the suburban
towns of Chigwell, Loughton and Buckhurst Hill in the southeast of the District,
close to the boundary with the London Borough of Redbridge, forming somewhat of
a spill over from the established communities in the London Borough.
