Did your immigrant family settle in New York? Work on a guided project with one-on-one instruction in this hands-on class.
Our ancestors left a rich New York City legacy, having lived in neighborhoods like the Lower East Side, the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Westchester, Long Island, and New Jersey. While we have access to census and vital records from FamilySearch and ItalianGen, there are many other New York resources to explore.
These include naturalization papers, probate records, landsmanshaften, voter registrations, newspapers, and court cases. Some documents can be accessed online and others only through archives on-site.

Instructor-led research taught in a private forum. Four downloadable chapters in PDF format.
Students post their research project according to the instructor's guidelines, then collaborate on an individualized research plan. Group Zoom sessions will introduce new resources and guide students through databases and other tools.
This is an intermediate level class. Students should select one NYC family where census and vital records research has been documented.
Students must also feel comfortable browsing the web and downloading files.
$150 for 4 weeks.
