List of Jews of the Amur Region
By Eric Feinstein
Background
This is a list of Jews that lived in the Amur Region of the Russian Empire. The Amur Region, in Russian it was called the Priamursky Krai, was a peripheral territory in the east of the Russian Empire; the general name for the territories of the Amur River basin, i.e. the southern and middle parts of the Primorsky, Amur and Transbaikal regions and the adjacent areas of the Chinese Empire. Administratively, it was basically the same as the Amur Governorate-General. This list was published in the "Priamurskie Vedomosti" newspaper, issues 1877-1879. This newspaper was started in 1894 and appeared three times weekly so the issues 1877-1879 likely appeared sometime in 1906. There are 427 entries in this database.
