Background
Rostov-on-Don had the third largest Jewish community in Russia, following Moscow and Saint Petersburg. This is an index of the divorce records of the Rostov Synagogue [the Jewish Community] from 1857 until 1918.
This list includes 49 entries dating from 1857 to 1918. The fields of information include the number of the act of divorce—in this case the divorces were enumerated separately each year, the age of the wife (in whole years), the age of the husband in whole years, the surname of the husband, given name of the husband, patronymic of the husband, surname of the wife, given name of the wife, patronymic of the wife, the date of divorce, and comments.
