Background

Rostov-on-Don had the third largest Jewish community in Russia, following Moscow and Saint Petersburg-Leningrad.  This was also reflected in the enormous sacrifice of its sons and daughters during the Great Patriotic War (WWII) of 1941-1945.  

This list includes Jewish soldiers 

  1. Born in Rostov-on-Don;
  2. Called up for active military service in Rostov-on-Don;
  3. Buried in Rostov-on-Don.

There are approximately 1939 entries.  The fields of information include surname, given name, patronymic (father's name), year of birth, military rank and place of death.  The places of death include the locations of burial where indicated.
