Synagogue/Society Description: |
Tree of Life Congregation was initially chartered in McKeesport, Pa. in 1898. The congregation met in rented rooms until 1908, when it dedicated a synagogue at Sixth Avenue and Mulberry Street. The congregation's charter was acquired by a different group in the late 1940s or early 1950s. The new Tree of Life dedicated a synagogue at Bailie Avenue and Coursin Street. Tree of Life merged with Congregation Sfard in 1973 to form Tree of Life-Sfard, and the new congregation dedicted a new synagogue in neighboring White Oak, Pa. in 1975.
