Cemetery Description: |
Temple Beth Shalom of Cambridge Cemetery, 232 Fuller Street, Everett, MA, USA. 1086 burials total.
Temple Beth Shalom of Cambridge, also known as the Tremont Street Shul, is the result of mergers of local synagogues: Congregation Anshai est. 1896, Congregation Beth Israel est 1900 and Temple Ashkenaz est. 1957, originally part of Beth Israel. As a result, Temple Beth Shalom has two cemeteries in Everett, one called Temple Beth Shalom of Cambridge and across the cemetery road, The Temple Ashkenaz Cemetery United Ashkenaz. Headstones here in The Temple Beth Israel of Cambridge Cemetery show interments dated from 1906 through 2021. A large white marble plaque is affixed to the gateposts that once included an iron railing recently replaced with trees. The plaque contains 51 names of members of The Chevra Kadisha Society (est. 1918-1919) that donated the fence. The headstones for 31 of those names can be found in the cemetery. For the purposes of this data set, burial location is counted from the cemetery road to the back fence. In those rows with existing signage (rusted metal signs on the left hand fence), the numbers have been added in brackets to the location information. The Synagogue is currently active and can be found at 8 Tremont Street, Cambridge, MA. The Cemetery is independently managed.
