Cemetery Description: |
Beth Israel Cemetery, Area 1 Left section, 232 Fuller Street, Everett, MA, USA. 149 burials total.
Beth Israel on JOWBR is divided into 5 geographical areas for the purpose of documenting this cemetery’s multiple areas and lots which no longer display all of the original signage. Upon entering the Everett Jewish Cemeteries main gate off of Fuller Street, Beth Israel Cemetery Area 1 Left is the Beth Israel area on the left after 'Netzah Israel'. It is bound at the back by 'Knights of Zaslav', and on the right by Area 2 Left of Beth Israel. It houses original lot 29 and possibly others. Row numbers in this set of records are counted from the main cemetery vehicle access way called "Memorial Drive", and do not correspond to original cemetery plot numbers. Plot numbers are counted from the pathway to the right. There is room for more interments in this area of the cemetery. Beth Israel is independently owned and managed by the Beth Israel Corporation established by founder Solomon Slotnick after the initial 1919 purchase of over 50 acres of land for the establishment of Jewish cemeteries easily accessible to Boston. Lots were made available for resale to the many Synagogues, Societies and Landsmanschaften in the Boston area. The properties are serviced by The Fuller Service Company, and further information can be found at http://everettjewishcemeteries.com/. This set of data, photographs, transcription and translation provided by Pauline Shapiro Flanagan, a great granddaughter to immigrants from Krakenava and Anyksciai Lithuania who settled in Chelsea in the early 1900s.
