Cemetery Description: |
Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation Cemetery - Indianapolis, IN, USA. 2086 burials total.
Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation was the first Jewish congregation in Indianapolis, founded in 1856. IHC Director of Life Long Learning, Marcia Goldstein, provided invaluable help including the starting database and putting together a team of a dozen volunteers (including Marcia and her husband and members of IHC's Sisterhood) who photographed the cemetery. Other IHC team members under the direction of Lynn Davis of Congregation Shaarey Tefilla entered information from burial records provided by Aaron Ruben Nelson Mortuary [arnmortuary.com] into the database. Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation is located at: 6501 N. Meridian Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46260, Tel: 317-255-6647. The database includes information gleaned from ARN records on some individuals for whom no stones could be found in the IHC cemetery. Burials inside mausoleums without individual exterior tombstones are not included in this record. Kelly Street Project Leader: Gloria Green of Congregation Beth-El Zedeck, with the assistance of David Green.
