Bayside Cemetery has been owned by Congregation Shaare Tsedek from 1865. Shaare Tsedek's address in the early years was 38 Henry St. Their sextons performed the undertaking duties and they used the synagogue's address as their own. Sextons in the 1870's and 1880's were Herschel and Michael Light and Samuel Pinner. Samuel Pinner remained for a long time after he left Congregation Darech Amuno.
