The Tree of Life-S'fard congregation represented a merger of two congregations founded in the late nineteenth century by Jewish immigrants in McKeesport. S'fard Anshe Galizia was founded by Jews from the part of Poland known as Galizia; Etz Chaim [Tree of Life] by Jews from Russia. The two congregations eventually merged and then moved to White Oak. In 2000, the congregation closed.
