The general cemetery was established in 1907 but the Temple did not start using the grounds until their activation in 1910. They currently utilize areas 1, 31 and 43 of the Evergreen Cemetery. Some dates of death date before this date since original burials were in the City of Tucson's old cemetery. The city ordered the old cemetery area closed and the bodies removed to other locations outside the city's limits. Some of those bodies were reburied in Temple Emanu El's section (area 1).
