Jewish cemetery Liptovský Hrádok (Liptóújvár), Liptovský Hrádok, Slovakia. 57 burials total.
The Jewish cemetery in Liptovský Hrádek (in the past Liptóújvár) is located east of the city by the old road towards Hyba. It is located in an abandoned place, hidden in a forest, about 2.2 km from the city center. It was neglected, stolen and damaged by vandals for decades. As part of the Bridges - Gesharim program in the years 1995-1998, a lapidary was created from quarry stone from Svidova in the meadow below the cemetery, in which broken tombstones were placed. A commemorative plaque is installed at the lapidary. A part of the original gravestones is located above the lapidary in the cemetery in the forest. Here you can see excavated graves, overturned tombstones and the remains of pedestals from stolen stelae. From: J.
