Cemetery Description: |
Palic is a little community near Subotica. Sinisa Samardzic photographed and made these photos availabl to JewishGen. Per Sinisa there are graves in the local Serbian cemeteries that people say are Jewish graves. The graves are at the edge of Serbian cemetery. The Catholic Hungarian cemetery didn't want them, so that corroborates the claims that those are Jewish graves. In fact, as you can see on a photo, one of those graves is even marked with Serbian Orthodox cross. That shouldn't concern us because Serbs probably thought that they should mark that grave in their standard way. Since there are no more Jews in Palic and probably due to a lack of a rabbi, or perhaps upon an expressed will of the deceased, the grave was marked in that way.
