Cemetery Description: |
Hevron Admot Yishai Street Cemetery, Admot Yishai Street, Hevron, ISRAEL. 335 burials total.
Overview of Old Rabbinic Section.
No office etc. Cemetery consists of several sections: pogrom of 1929, old rabbinic section, post-1970 and very old graves which are broken etc. It also includes the single reconstructed grave in the Habad cemetery. This database does not include other graves in Hevron, such as Patriarchs, Ruth, Jesse and Avner, which are outside the fenced area.
- 18 Av 5689 is listed as the date of death for all the victims of the 1929 pogrom. It is unknown whether they all died on that day. They were all buried on 20 Av.
- The "comments" column contains a translation of the inscription with donor's comments in brackets.
- Stones often indicate that the person is "from" some particular place. I have listed those places under 'birthplace," which may not be correct.
- I have only recorded information from the gravestones, even when other information is available, except where other sources add a given name to certain pogrom victims.
