Kreis Mayen-Koblenz. Location/Condition: The tombstones in the Jewish cemetery, located near the Postkutschenweg, have been destroyed except for the ones listed here. The building located at Hauptstrasse 46 is named the Judenhaus. The uninhabited house (in 1984) at Balduinstrasse 29 was once the synagogue. Information gathered by Klaus H.S. Schulte in the spring of 1986. Additional information was added from the research of Mr. Dieter Peters of Aachen, Germany. For 20 years he has been the cemetery representative and relationship manager of the Landesverbandes der Jüdischen Gemeinden von Nordrhein (the Union of the Jewish communities of the North Rhine area,) and he has amassed a personal database of some 80,000 names and burials. |
