Prior to 1964, burials for the Harrogate Hebrew Congregation took place at the Leeds United Hebrew Congregation Cemetery, Gildersome. The Harrogate Jewish cemetery, which adjoins the Military Cemetery off Wetherby Road, was consecrated on 24 May 1964 and Sir Montague and Lady Burton were reinterred there from the United Hebrew Congregation Cemetery, Goildersome, Leeds, as the first burials in the cemetery.
