Mattersburg Cemetery, Wiedekindgasse/Bahnstrasse, Mattersburg, Austria. 180 burials total.
These are the remains of the cemetery of one of the Seven Jewish Communities that were founded on the West Hungarian side of the border with Austria in the centuries when Jews were not allowed to live in Austria. Many of the Jewish families in 19th and 20th century Austria had their roots in these Seven Communities and especially that of Mattersdorf (now Mattersburg) near the Austrian city of Wiener Neustadt. The cemetery was destroyed by the Nazis, but in the 1980s many of the gravestones and fragments were recovered and cemented into memorial walls.
