Jews who Died in the Dachau "Revier" Clinic after Liberation

INTRODUCTION

This list consists of 555 who died in the Revier Clinic after liberation. It is from the collections of the Central Historical Commission of the Central Committee of Liberated Jews in the U.S. zone, Munich. This committee was founded in December 1945 by liberated Jews, who at the time realized that keeping historical documentation about the Holocaust was of utmost importance. The committee had 50 branches in the various Displaced Persons (DP) camps. Among the projects that the committee initiated was collecting documentation from German sources on the Holocaust, taking testimonies from survivors, and collecting material on the life of the Jews in the DP camps.

This list was given to the committee by the Jewish Information Office in Dachau. It lists the Jews who died after liberation in the camp clinic. It is well known that many Jews died in the camps in the short time after liberation from exhaustion, diseases and other causes.

The original list was written in German. The fields in the list are:

• surname (last name)
• first name (given name)
• date of birth
• place of birth
• date of death
• prisoner number
• nationality

Nationality was abbreviated. The translation of these abbreviations have been reconstructed as follows:
