Prague Mohel BookBackgroundA mohel book from Prague covering the dates 1699-1739 was digitized by the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York (call number MS 8480). During some of this period, the given name of the son was not recorded. But the entries usually record the given name and surname or patronymic of the father, the sandek and two mohels (one for cutting, the other for tearing), as well as the date of circumcision (usually eight days from birth). This mohel book with 6,095 circumcision entries was transcribed by Yehuda Rubin for JewishGen. The scans of the mohel book are available here. For further information, please contact: E. Randol Schoenberg. Searching the DatabaseThis database can be searched via the JewishGen Austria-Czech Database or the JewishGen Unified Search
