Prague BerichtenbucherBackgroundThe Prague Jewish Community kept books recording reports sent to the civil administrative and, to a lesser extent, judicial institutions. The book was called Berichtenbuch or Liber Attestationem. The addressee was usually the Gubernium (District government), Old Town District Office, City Council or Magistrate, and occasionally commissions concerning security, tax, education, and tolls. The reports were not kept chronologically within the book, but each book refers to a specified range of years. To locate the books that have been put online, visit the Prague Jewish Museum collections website and search for Berichtenbuch, http://collections.jewishmuseum.cz/index.php/Search/Index?search=berichtenbuch For further information, please contact: E.
