Edward Anders and colleagues have assembled a remarkably complete listing covering almost all of the 7100 Jews who lived in Libau in June 1941. This searchable database includes family relationships, addresses, dates of birth and death, and numerous other sources of genealogical data in the tragic story that it tells. A memorial book containing 7060 names of the 1941 residents of Libau is available free of charge. Dr. Anders has also kindly made available to the Courland Research Group the complete list of surnames represented in his database, and these are listed below. The surnames have been transliterated to the Latvian and German forms, as listed in the two columns (note that each column is in alphabetical order, so the two surnames on each line are, in general, not different versions of the same surname). A question mark denotes uncertain spelling, or an entry that is hard to read or possibly misspelled in the original.
