Dear Freida and Abe, I wrote you the day before yesterday about my travel to America and the formalities you have to arrange. I have news from very good sources that it is something different from what I wrote you. The change is that the request form from a farmer or an estate owner is not sufficient. In the request you must promise to buy me a piece of land and all the machinery for me to be a self-sufficient farmer. Then I will get the permission to come without a contract and without waiting. Anyway, please go to HIAS in New York to get other details. Although I wrote you two days ago in great detail about the matter, I will repeat it here, just to make sure. I want to come to America together with Miriam Elkind, therefore you should please to go to her relatives and remind them about the letter that Miriam wrote to them about this, in order to bring all the necessary pressure to make this happen. They are people who own their houses and if they only have the good will it can be done. It is especially important for you to go to Willie Elkind, the one Miriam wrote to. And of course to Uncle Louis Elkins.
Yours, Miriam and Moshe |
